Who is eligible to participate in the Timbers Elite Program?

Timbers Elite is open to U9 players, boys and girls, BORN IN 2009, who are seeking a more challenging soccer environment than is provided in recreational leagues.  It is not for all players, and families are encouraged to consider what the best fit for each individual child.  For those who see competitive soccer as an eventual destination, this program is the ideal pre-competitive environment.

Timbers Elite provides a training and playing environment that is similar to BNT competitive teams, but with shorter seasons.  The demands on time are slightly more than that of our Youth Academy and less than our Competitive teams. Teams train two times a week and play a game schedule that will challenge them to improve under the guidance of qualified coaches.

Timbers Elite provide coaches with a soccer background.  Coaches are paid and selected on merit of coaching experience, soccer background and suitability to young players.   Coaches have licensing through USSF and the NSCAA, while most have a college soccer or better playing background.  The coach to player ratio is a major focus, with a desired 11:1 ratio.

Rosters are typically divided up into teams of 10 – 12 players.  Consideration is also given to geography, with an attempt to place players on teams that train within their area of the Treasure Valley.  Each team has a designated Head Coach. Often, two teams will train together under the guidance of the same Head Coach at the same location.

League play may includes games against other Timbers Elite teams, in addition to outside competition against other suitable level teams from outside clubs and organizations.  Teams play matches at 7v7 including a goalkeeper.  League games are played at Simplot Fields in Boise.

All players will have the opportunity to participate in local tournaments.

Additional training opportunities will be available for Timbers Elite players throughout the year. Some examples include: Winter Futsal, Spring Break Camp, Summer Camps, etc.

Timbers Elite players have the advantage of working with the BNT Competitive Staff prior to tryouts for the U10 season.  Besides gaining a familiarity with Boise Nationals Timbers coaches, Timbers Elite players are given priority consideration at tryouts for U10 Competitive Teams.
